SHARED LIVING

"When I was younger I didn't know where I lived, but now I know." Xavier lives in our shared living program.

WORK Inc.’s Shared Living Program is a person-centered model that allows people with disabilities to self-determine their home and support through an arrangement in which they choose to live with a roommate, couple, or a family in the community and share mutually beneficial life experiences. Shared living households will be supported to foster mutually beneficial relationships based on social values that are positive, respectful and promote the equality and dignity of all household members.

Who is eligible for the program?

Shared Living is funded by several Massachusetts state agencies including, the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC), and Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), and others. The program also accepts private payment for services. If you are interested in Shared Living at WORK Inc, our staff is available to help you coordinate eligibility with the appropriate state agency.

Who can be a Shared Living Provider?

Community members who wish to become shared living caregivers can be a single person, a family, a couple, and empty nesters – anyone who wants to share their lives and make a difference in someone else’s life! All Shared living providers will receive ongoing case management support from WORK Inc, training, a generous monthly tax-free stipend, respite opportunities, sharing of household expenses, and satisfaction from helping someone grow and flourish.
