Nationally recognized as a pioneer in developing community based programs for individuals with disabilities, WORK Inc. is one of Massachusetts' most successful non-profit providers of rehabilitation services. Founded in 1965, our organization supports over 1,000 consumers daily. Our success is attributed to a commitment to excellence in all we do, our innovative spirit and the desire to "make a difference" in the lives of people with disabilities. The progress of those we serve reflects the unique talents of our caring and dedicated professional staff.

People come to WORK Inc. with a variety of disabilities:

Regardless of age or disability, all persons have the right to live and work in their communities. Work not only provides people with a means for economic independence, it is also critical in the development of an identity, social relations and a sense of mastery. At WORK Inc. we assist individuals to define their employment objectives and help them with career exploration, training, education, counseling and job placement. Ongoing support is provided by our concerned staff on a short-term or long-term basis. Our work centers provide opportunities to acquire work readiness skills and sample different jobs. Individuals are encouraged to explore a variety of career paths and refine their skills so they can obtain and maintain satisfying jobs.

Having a home of one's own may also be part of life's dreams, and WORK Inc. helps create housing supports. In group homes and supported living arrangements around the Greater Boston area, people with disabilities find comfort and pleasure, surrounded by friends, in the everyday routines of their community. Here people learn daily living skills, develop meaningful social relationships, gain confidence in their abilities and find new opportunities for making a positive contribution to the community. With the ultimate goal of providing the supports needed for increased independence, long-term supervised housing, life skills training and case coordination are available. At WORK Inc. people receive assistance with self-advocacy, transportation, medical services, finances, assistive technology and managing personal care attendants.
